We currently serve around 100 clients throughout the Rothsay, Carlisle, and Foxhome areas .
On October 8th, 1991 the first planning meeting was held to bring to life a Living at Home/Block Nurse Program which would offer services to our citizens 65 and older. On October 18th, 1991 a group of 10 citizens and the Directors of Wilkin and Otter Tail County Public Health decided to move forward and invite Malcom Mitchell from the Living at Home/Block Nurse, Inc (Elderberry click here), to attend another meeting providing further input about the program. Thus the name PARTNERS...People Around Rothsay That Need Extra Routine Services. A grant was approved with funding to begin on March 31st 1992. Our first office was set up at Shirley Service Station and on May 1st PARTNERS opened its doors. Marge Thorpe was our first Program Director and Connie Simmer was the first Volunteer Coordinator. On October 1994, the Rothsay Telephone Board of Directors voted to give a generous contribution to PARTNERS that resulted in the purchase of a building on 1st Ave NW and Rothsay Lions Club gave another generous donation for the repairs and redecorating of the building which we are presently in today. Some of the original services offered where foot clinic, brown bag, cholesterol screening, blood pressure checks, friendly visits, volunteers to drive to appointments or visit, flu clinic, Meals on Wheels and respite care. Much of this and more is still offered today.
PARTNERS is still going strong...we still offer the same services we did back then and more with two big changes, the Bookmobile no longer stops here! We now have our own library link site through LARL. And our age has dropped to 60.
